I thoroughly enjoy Employment Law. It’s an area where good advice can make a real difference as work is a huge part of life, and the advice given and result achieved is deeply connected to and can have a profound impact on an individual personally and the wider family.

About Hardeep Kular
I am an experienced senior employment lawyer with over 29 years post qualification experience gained in private practice and as an independent consultant. I have extensive experience advising both individuals and companies on all aspects of both contentious and non-contentious employment issues as well as supporting and advising on transactional work involving restructuring, redundancies and TUPE related issues and dispute resolution.
I regularly advise on employment termination matters and senior high-level exits in a wide range of industry sectors: financial services, legal, technology, e-commerce, gaming, food, media and telecoms industries, academia and healthcare.
I also regularly advise on a wide range of employment claims relating to complex discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, redundancy, breach of contract, working time and status issues and collective labour law.
Given my length of experience, I have amassed and honed a unique and substantial skill set that makes me a well-rounded and versatile worker, tackling issues with a wider perspective and formulating effective problem resolution options. Having represented both employers and employees, I can see a situation from different perspectives, carry out a balancing exercise and reach a sound judgment.
I lead with discretion and respect, building client trust, alleviating concerns and providing transparent support. I conduct settlement discussions, providing solutions-driven and incisive advice to clients with clear timescales, efficiently negotiating terms to avoid tribunal proceedings. I will convey complex information in practical and comprehensive ways.
I have been described as a formidable and intuitive negotiator described as “timely, careful, helpful, and supportive”, with a meticulous, “diligent manner and attention to detail which I find most commendable irrespective of the eventual outcome”.
I thoroughly enjoy Employment Law. It’s an area where good advice can make a real difference as work is a huge part of life and the advice given and result achieved is deeply connected to and can have a profound adverse impact on an individual personally and the wider family. I will therefore always strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients and derive great satisfaction from being part of that process, being able to support the individual and have a real understanding and compassion for the employee relations difficulties.
I also enjoy the daily interaction with business professionals whether they are employees or senior managers within companies.
Most recent cases include:
Advising several senior executives and professionals (employed in large multinational organisations) in relation to restructure and ramifications on respective roles, potential termination, negotiating high value termination packages (often involving a settlement in six figures), protection of unvested awards and reduced restrictive covenants at each stage negotiating excellent financial terms and managing personal reputation. This has included senior executives based in EMEA.
Acted for a female senior executive against a major bank in relation to claims for personal injury, disability discrimination, indirect sex discrimination, whistleblowing, and constructive unfair dismissal; securing a significant settlement.
Acted for a senior executive and successfully negotiated a substantial package in claims against a major pharmaceutical company involving discriminatory (sex and disability), automatically and ordinary unfair constructive dismissal, issues surrounding unilateral change in working hours, involving what counts as working time and status of worker (whether field based or not) and victimisation following protected disclosure.
Assisting with issues arising out of proposed restructuring and redundancy impacting across an organisation globally in the EMEA region.
Successfully defended an academia client accused of inappropriate behaviour; identifying critical flaws in procedure, inconsistencies in evidence, and advanced adverse sex discrimination arguments which resulted in the regulatory authority clearing the client.
Acted for a CFO in an international healthcare group and a department head in a multinational energy and services company in relation to all aspects of high value moves, proposed termination and disputes, at each stage carefully managing overall financial terms and personal reputation.
Acted for a Hedge Fund Manager and a senior Investment banker in relation to both investment/ entrance and tricky exit issues involving shareholder and bonus disputes, carefully negotiating excellent terms.
